Sederek has long outgrown the status of a city bazaar. Today it is a wholesale centre not only for Azerbaijan: entrepreneurs from neighbouring Georgia and Russia come here for goods. Its location on the ring road and the access for trucks make the market a convenient transshipment point.
The market operates ten cargo terminals that receive goods from abroad. Goods arrive from China, Turkey, Iran, Georgia and Russia — hence the breadth of the range: the stalls carry products from across the region and beyond.
